The Edible Gardens Project

About

The Edible Gardens Project (The Edibles, for short) is a community effort begun by People’s Organization for Progress (POP) Central Jersey to bring together both new gardeners and those who have been gardening and have a lot of knowledge to improve local food security by helping each other and members of the community build gardens. Trinity United Methodist Church of Highland Park and The Farmer Solidarity Project are partner organizations.

Please bear with us as we build our site. Some of our links may not be live yet.

The goals of The Edible Gardens Project are to:

  1. Grow as much food as we can as a community
  2. Educate the community on reasons to grow our own food
  3. Educate ourselves and the community on gardening
  4. Learn about permaculture and share that information
  5. Raise interest among youth in green jobs in agriculture
  6. Provide a portion of what we grow to our local food pantries
  7. Identify opportunities for turning local land over to growing food
